Description: photograph of William Polk Dobson, 1783-1846, wife was-Mary (Polly) Hughes Dobson, they lived in the Rockford Township, they were married 2-2-1802 and soon after purchased the Richard Horne plantation just east of Rockford on a bend of the Yadkin River, they had 12 children when Surry County was divided in 1850 the new county seat was called "Dobson" in honor of this family
