Description
Items including scrapbooks from the Busy Bees Extension Homemakers Club formed in 1978
The Busy Bees are a group of ladies who met with Brenda Rose and Ann Tyndall in September 1978 at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Airy to try and start a new club in the area. Brenda did a presentation on sewing called "Everyone Has to Sew Sometimes" and Ann did a blender demonstration.
The group me again in November at the Central Methodist Church. Officers were elected and the club was named the Busy Bees. Ann met with them at their first meeting.
They started with (12) twelve members and still have 5 charter member. Most of the members joined within the first year.
They remember their many classes in crafts. They still have beautiful needlework that they were taught to do. They have also held tours of Old Salem, Chinqua-Penn, Reynolda House and several Museums. They've had classes on Japanese art, fashion shows, etc.
They are busy and active and donate lots to good causes. They have fun at their meetings and look forward to many more years with the county Extension Homemakers. (1999)
