History, photographs, and records from the Spencer's Infant's and Children's Wear company, founded in Mount Airy, NC. The company was founded on July 8, 1926 as Mount Airy Knitting Company, by W.E. Lindsay, John Banner, and J.H. Crossingham. F.L. Hatcher and G.C. Lovill later became partners in the business. The name was changed to Spencer's Infant's and Children's Wear in 1963, and local production closed in 2006.

Spencer's: Time tested Recipes from Southern Appalachia
Cookbook produced and printed in 1989 from the Spencer's Infant's and Children's Wear company, founded in Mount Airy, NC. Recipes were contributed by the employees. The company was founded on July 8, 1926 as Mount Airy Knitting Company, by W.E. Lindsay, John Banner, and J.H. Crossingham. F.L. Hatcher and G.C. Lovill later became partners in the business. The name was changed to Spencer's Infant's and Children's Wear in 1963, and local production closed in 2006. The cookbook is housed at the Mount Airy Museum for Regional History. -
