  List of Taxable Property in Surry County, North Carolina For the Year 1812. The following tax list is the complete listing of property owners in Surry County (at that time included present day Yadkin County) persons is an exact copy of the hand written original. However, only the number of acres owned by an individual and the number of white polls are listed here. Black polls, town lots, the numbers of the lots, retailer listings, and the number of studs have not been included. There are twelve separate districts, and the names are arranged alphabetically within each distric, but not past the initial letter of the last or family name.

  Tax lists for the year 1774 with a patial listing for 1775. Typed from the original lists, as compiled by individual tax listers for the two years above mientioned, the lists bein on file in the vaults of the Clerk of Court for Surry County, N.C. The two districts for 1775 were included, along with the 1774 lists, due to the fact that the compiler felt that it was possible they would include additional information. The 1774 lists include most of the county at that time, but is is possible that one district may be missing. Howefer, a thorough search of the district lists for the year 1774.

This listing was copied from a microfilm of the hand written original. The original page numbers of this tax list have been included, and the names copied just as they appear on this list, thus preserving neighborhoods. An index of names is inlcuded at the end of this publication. S stands for Single Man, Rv for river, and Crk for Creek. Key to column numbers. 1-Individual's name, 2-Horses and Mules, 3-Cattle, 4-Acres of Land, and 5-Location of Land.
